In Standing Order 21-3, the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas adopted a venue rule governing where certain Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases must be filed.  On December 18, 2023, the Court issued Standing Order 23-1 to extend that venue rule through June 30, 2024.  Also, effective December 31, 2023, the updated order requires debtors to file their case in the Topeka Divisional Office if the individual debtor’s residence (or business entity’s principal place of business) is in Douglas County.  See the order on the court’s website for details.
