Bankruptcy Court Remains Open During Government Shutdown

Monday, January 7, 2019

Despite a partial government shutdown, the District of Kansas Bankruptcy Court will remain open and continue operations that exercise its judicial powers.  Accordingly, the Court will continue to adjudicate bankruptcy matters, accept new case filings, receive and process pleadings and fees, and hear matters.  Parties and representatives should be prepared to appear for all matters that have been and will be scheduled for hearing unless a party seeks, and the Court grants, an extension of time for good cause.  The Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system will remain operational to accept electronic filings.  The public counter and telephone lines for the Bankruptcy Court will also remain open for business according to their normal schedules.
