Clearing the Cache     Modified 03/09/2011

OVERVIEW

The ECF system is a web based software program.  Users access ECF through a web browser.  

In order for information to be displayed properly in ECF it is necessary to clear the "cache" or computer memory that is stored on your PC.  Web browsers cache or store information about the web sites you visit directly to your PC.  Caching is intended to increase the speed at which Internet pages are accessed.  However, one side effect is that pages displayed from the cache may not be as new as pages available from the web.  This means that you may not see updates that are made to ECF unless you clear the browser cache.  The cache should be cleared frequently to avoid errors.

FIREFOX v. 3.6.15

1. From the menu select Tools>Options>Privacy

2. Click "clear all history." link

3. Check Cookies and Cache

4. Click Clear Now button to complete the process and return to your browser

1. Select Tools from the menu options

2. Select Internet Options from the drop down menu

3. Select the General tab

4. Click on the Delete... button in the Browsing History section

5. Check Temporary Internet Files and Cookies

6. Click Delete button to complete the process and return to your browser

GOOGLE CHROME 10.0.648.127

1. Select the Wrench icon

2. Select Options from the drop down menu

3. Select the Under the Hood option

4. Click on the Clear browsing data button in the Browsing History section

5. Check Empty the cache and Delete cookies and other site data

6. Click Clear browsing data  button to complete the process and return to your browser
